The mission of the Main Library Alliance is to empower its member libraries through leadership, collaboration and resource sharing. By uniting our efforts, we strive to promote the vital role of libraries in our communities by delivering equitable, cost-effective, and forward-thinking services that address the diverse needs of library cardholders and residents in our member area.
VISION
Main aspires to be a steadfast support system for member libraries, granting access to a wide spectrum of services designed to deepen engagement within the communities we serve. In doing so, we create pathways for lifelong learning and foster opportunities for vibrant community building.

WHO WE SERVE
Main and its member libraries will soon represent a service area of 1 million people. It is scheduled for additional growth in the next several years. Presently, it incorporates:
-798,000 people
-43 public library entities across 57 buildings
-At least one member library in Essex, Hunterdon, Morris, Somerset, Union, & Warren Counties
-Over 100 municipalities
-Nearly 1,000 library staff members

GOVERNANCE
Representative governance and financial oversight is provided by our Board of Directors
Member libraries vote on the most important matters, such as the budget, new applications for membership, and Bylaw/Policy amendments.
Main operates in accordance with Federal and State regulations, including undergoing an annual financial audit.
