Custodial Worker – Hackettstown Free Public Library

ANNOUNCEMENT:

The Hackettstown Free Public Library is seeking an enthusiastic individual to provide excellent custodial service in the position of Custodial Worker. Under supervision, the Custodial Worker performs a variety of routine library cleaning tasks and does other related duties as required.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

This is a part-time, 6-hour per week position with morning hours:

  • M (7-9)
  • W (7-9)
  • F (7-9)

Work involves performing cleaning and sanitary tasks in support of the effective daily operation of the library.

EXAMPLES OF WORK:

  • Perform routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and dusting to maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards
  • Empty trash receptacles and dispose of waste in accordance with established procedures
  • Clean and sanitize restrooms, including toilets, sinks, and mirrors, to ensure a hygienic environment
  • Restock supplies such as toilet paper, paper towels, and soap as needed
  • Clean windows, glass surfaces, and doors to maintain a tidy appearance
  • Monitor and replenish cleaning supplies inventory, notifying supervisor when supplies are running low
  • Follow safety protocols and use cleaning chemicals properly to prevent accidents and maintain a safe work environment
  • Performs simple landscaping and outdoor cleanup

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Prior cleaning experience preferred
  • Able to lift 20 pounds
  • Able to work independently

COMPENSATION:

  • This position earns $16.50/hr.
  • State pension through DCRP
  • Paid sick and vacation time
