Summer Reading 2019

Summer Reading 2019

A universe of stories

May 29, 2019

Cedar Knolls, NJ – Ready for summer reading 2019? This year’s theme for summer reading is science. The slogan, “A Universe of Stories,” was chosen by library professionals to help inspire children of all ages to dream big, believe in themselves, and create their own story. Summer reading encourages children to read books, win prizes, and provides many benefits for children. Children develop a positive attitude towards reading, books in general, and the library. Children are also practicing and maintaining their reading skills during summer vacation.

Amanda Ort, Washington Township Public Library Youth Services Librarian, commented that, “Join a ‘Universe of Stories’ this summer at your local library! The Summer Reading program is designed to encourage your children to keep reading throughout the summer outside of the school year. Through the Summer Reading Program at your local library, children can participate in awesome and exciting programs while also boosting their reading goals.”

Contact your local library today and find out what programs and performers will be taking place.

Tara Ruppell, Rockaway Township Free Public Library Children’s Librarian, commented that “Children should join the summer reading club at their local library because it will help children to keep the important reading skills that they have gained throughout the course of the school year and prevent any backslide. Children should also join because it’s fun! Each library spends tons of time planning exciting, entertaining, and fun programs for the kids to enjoy over the summer, and help keep boredom at bay.”
