MAIN Public Libraries Offer Free Virtual Educational Content and Business Resources to Community
Through June 30th, residents can access endless on-demand and educational content
April 20, 2020
Cedar Knolls, NJ – Morris Automated Information Network (MAIN) Libraries, a northern New Jersey shared services consortium of 38 public libraries, is now offering free virtual programming and educational resources to all members of the public community through June 30, 2020. By visiting MAIN’s website, https://www.mainlib.org/, residents of Morris, Warren and Somerset Counties can access free digital resources for students, educators, and parents. There is temporarily no requirement to have a public library card in order to access these resources.
“Like every other sector, public libraries have transitioned toward a model whereas many services as possible are being provided remotely,” said MAIN Executive Director, Phillip Berg. “In contemplating the real possibility that schools will not physically reopen again before the fall, public libraries have altered these transition plans to also include meeting the new needs of educators, students, and parents. We are all thankful for the cooperation we have seen across MAIN between libraries and vendors.”
Digital resources include eBooks; eAudioBooks; eMagazines and Comics; Rosetta Stone language learning; Heritage Quest genealogy; Gale Business: Small Business Plan Builder; access to Consumer Reports; as well as unlimited access to thousands of movies, documentaries, educational clips, kids’ TV shows, and more. In addition to these resources, there are dozens of resources available for businesses and those interested in as well. Access all resources here: https://www.mainlib.org/digital-content/
“Libraries are education’s first-responders. We provide online collections and services to enable the success of teachers, students, and families learning from home during this critical time,” said Seth Stephens, MAIN Board President and Director of the Jefferson Township Public Library.
Several MAIN member libraries have also provided their own virtual content and programming streamed on the individual library’s YouTube or Facebook channels. You can access a list of libraries offering this content here: https://www.mainlib.org/libraries-online-programming/
