April 26, 2024, Cedar Knolls, NJ: Main Library Alliance (Main) is pleased to welcome Mountainside Public Library (MPL) to its shared services network, effective on or before May 1, 2024. MPL represents the 40th member library and 52nd physical location.
The addition underscores Main’s continued commitment to providing high-quality, cost-effective shared services to its member libraries, located in Hunterdon, Morris, Somerset, Union, and Warren Counties. With access to Main’s diverse and innovative selection of enriching, entertaining and informative resources, MPL will be more firmly positioned to meet the Mountainside community’s evolving needs; and realize its vision to inspire a literate, proud, and intellectually curious community.
“It is a pleasure to welcome Main’s second member library from Union County,” said Phillip Berg, Main Executive Director. “Public libraries like Mountainside continue to lead the effort to create sustainable shared services partnerships that both improve local residents’ access and make the overall network that much more valuable to all.”
Tammy Shaw, Director of MPL stated: “We are grateful to the Union County Board of County Commissioners for providing the funding for us to join the Main Library Alliance. Shared services are critical to the cost-effective management and growth of smaller public libraries such as the Mountainside Public Library. We are thrilled to be able to offer expanded services to patrons while reducing the cost of managing our systems.”
