Save 15 Percent at the Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey Through Main Library Alliance

Your library card just became even more valuable: Main Library Alliance cardholders can now save 15 percent on tickets to the Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey.

Main Library Alliance, a network of 52 libraries in New Jersey, is partnering with the theater for the 2024 season, featuring shows based on the works of Jane Austen, William Shakespeare, and Charles Dickens.

Jane Austen’s Sense and Sensibility (September 4 – 22), adapted for the stage by Jessica Swale, follows the Dashwood sisters after their father’s death leaves them penniless and socially vulnerable in Regency England. Though Elinor and Marianne couldn’t be more different, both must figure out how to listen to their hearts in an age when money dictates marriages.

Macbeth (October 16 – November 17) is Shakespeare’s thrilling tale of a noble general and his wife who, spurred on by supernatural prophecy, embark on a bloody journey to take the Scottish crown. This is the first time that the Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey is performing the tragedy on the Main Stage in 20 years.

Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol (December 4 – 29) gives Scrooge’s journey from miser to humanitarian a fresh new take in Neil Bartlett’s bold and highly theatrical adaptation. Using a small ensemble of actors to bring the inhabitants of Dickens’ world to life, this inventive, animated production is sure to capture the imaginations of the entire family and fill audiences with the spirit of the season.

Cardholders at Main Library Alliance member libraries can redeem the 15 percent discount on original-price tickets by using code MAINLIB15 when ordering from ShakespeareNJ.org or by calling the box office at 973-408-5600. Cardholders must present their library card when picking up tickets before the show at the F.M. Kirby Shakespeare Theatre on the campus of Drew University: 36 Madison Avenue, Madison, NJ 07940.

“We are excited to partner with The New Jersey Shakespeare Theatre as they bring a trio of literary classics from page to stage,” said Marissa Martinelli, Director of Engagement & Outreach at Main Library Alliance. “This discount program for our member libraries reinforces the extraordinary value of a library card.”
