Youth Services Librarian – Madison Public Library (Full-Time)

The Madison Public Library seeks an energetic, service-oriented professional Librarian who is a Youth Services generalist, to serve in its busy Youth Services Department. The successful candidate will be a team player, with experience with high-quality programming, collection development, and information services to community. They will possess excellent customer service and communication skills, in addition to strong computer skills and a familiarity with social media.

The Librarian reports to the Youth Services Supervisor and is responsible for the department in the Supervisor’s absence. In this position, the Librarian will present or oversee the department’s services and programs offered to young patrons, their parents or caregivers, and the Madison schools and local youth oriented organizations. This position requires a comfort level with all ages but is focused on Tweens and Teens. Creative program planning and implementation is an important responsibility in this position. Other job duties include collection development, reference and readers’ advisory work, community outreach and other related duties.

ALA-accredited MLIS degree or equivalent and Professional Librarian’s Certificate issued by the New Jersey Department of Education required. At least one year of successful professional experience working with children, tweens and teens in a public library setting.

The salary range for the position is $52,000-$65,000. Salary will be commensurate with experience. This is a full-time, exempt position, with pension and health benefits. The standard work week is 36 hours and regular evening and weekend hours are required.
