Youth Services Librarian
The Boonton Holmes Public Library is seeking an energetic, creative, and friendly individual to join us to continue our excellent programs serving children, teens and their families as well as developing our children and young adult collections. Our youth programs encompass a wide range including preschool story time, primary, upper elementary and teen activities.
The ideal candidate will:
Be knowledgeable in Children’s and Young Adult literature and trends.
Create and implement programs for infants and children from Pre-K through 12th grade, including an active Summer Reading Program, weekly storytimes and special events.
Maintain a current collection for children and teens by well-informed ordering and weeding.
Utilize social and print media and the library’s website to promote youth programs and activities.
Support the community with outreach efforts to our local schools and other organizations.
Work with local student volunteers to facilitate programming.
Attend workshops and/or join a MAIN committee for continuing education, learning about library trends and emerging technologies.
An MLS or MLIS degree from an ALA accredited institution is preferred.
Demonstrated knowledge of children’s programming and activities, preferably in a library setting.
Knowledge of social media, computers and other related technologies.
Knowledge of Polaris software preferred.
Full time position, including evenings and Saturdays. Must be flexible, reliable, punctual, and be able to work well with others. Salary is commensurate with demonstrated experience.
