Temporary Circulation Assistant-P/T
The Denville Public Library is seeking a highly organized and flexible individual to fill in
temporarily at our busy circulation desk. Circulation staff members are the face of the
library. This person will be the first point of contact with our library patrons, and as such
the ideal candidate will have excellent customer service skills, be detail-oriented, and
have the ability to make quick decisions to resolve conflicts. The ideal candidate must be
confident in these abilities and possess unflappable composure.
Responsibilities include charging and discharging materials, issuing library cards, placing
holds, shelving library materials and assisting patrons in locating materials. Additional
duties will be assigned as needed.
Requirements: Minimum of a High School diploma, experience in a customer service
environment, and a demonstrated attention to detail. Strong communication and
interpersonal skills and basic computer proficiency and ability to learn library software
are required. Prior knowledge of the Koha library system is desirable.
Applicants must be available to work Monday 9-2, Wednesday 9-2, Thursday 4-9, 2
Fridays a month 9-2, and 1 Saturday a month. Additional hours as needed. These hours
are expected to run through mid-May of 2026. After that, hours would be as needed.
Starting salary is $17.55. This position is entitled to earned sick leave per N.J.S.A.
34:11D-1.
