Position Title: Supervising Library Assistant, full time
Department: Customer Service Department
Salary Range: $20.91 – $28.48

To manage the overall daily operations and supervise the staff of the Customer Service Department.

Job Duties:
o Supervise, oversee and evaluate the performance of the Customer Service staff which includes a senior library assistant, library assistants and library pages
o Keep up to date, train and assist the staff in customer service duties and techniques and Library and Circulation policies, procedures and systems
o Oversee daily circulation tasks such as Inter Library Loan and Jersey Cat
o Establish a weekly schedule for the customer service desk and issue work assignments as needed
o Open and close the Library building as assigned and prepare bank deposits
o Work a daily assigned shift at the customer service desk charging and discharging Library material, opening Library cards, collecting fines, placing holds and assisting customers with all questions and concerns
o Select and maintain the bestseller collection, monthly
o Hold or attend meetings as scheduled: Library Leadership meeting, monthly; Customer Service Department staff meeting, monthly; MAIN Circulation Meeting, quarterly
o Attend and schedule staff to attend seminars and/or webinars to enhance their knowledge of customer service, technical and other skills
o Review, resolve and answer e-mails sent to the library through MAIN mail
o Produce a monthly Customer Service Department report for the Library Director, report certain department statistics, and work on other circulation reports as needed
o Attend at least one outreach or community event per year
o Keep staff and customers informed and promote Library programs and services
o Assist and arrange for staff to assist in other departments/branches of the Library as needed

Job Qualifications:
o College degree preferred, high school diploma or equivalent required
o Minimum three years of Library experience that include an understanding of Library functions
o Minimum of one year of supervisory experience in a customer service setting
o Experience with computers and computer systems
