Position Title: Library Director

The Riverdale Public Library, located in Morris County in northern New Jersey, serves a small but library-loving community of 4,000. An engaged Board of Trustees actively supports the Director. A thriving Friends group provides ongoing supplemental financial support.

Key responsibilities of the position are:

  • Provide advice to Library Board of Trustees on policy, finances, planning, library performance, and library laws

  • Hire and supervise staff

  • Prepare and manage library budget

  • Manage library services and programs

  • Identify and implement outreach services to the community

  • Manage and maintain the library building, computer technology, and the library’s automation system

  • Represent the library in the community and promote its services

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to identify opportunities and effect change

Requirements:

  • NJ State Librarian Certification, strongly preferred

  • Five years related library experience

Salary range is $70,000 to $80,000 depending on experience
