Library Assistant (Part Time) – Florham Park Public Library

Description: The library assistant will be responsible for checking out and returning materials, issuing library cards, handling fines and fees, answering the telephone, providing simple reference and basic readers’ advisory, processing library holds, troubleshooting patron issues and concerns, assisting patrons with public computers, printers, scanners and copiers, packing/unpacking cartons of items for delivery, opening and closing the library.

The job is part time. The hours are approximately 16 hours a week including one evening per week and one Saturday in a six week rotation. There is a possibility of Sunday hours once a month and the occasional additional evening or weekend shift.

Requirements: Excellent customer service and teamwork skills are required, POLARIS experience is helpful (or comparable Integrated Library System), computer literacy is a must. Applicant must have excellent oral and written communication ability. Ability to meet the physical demands of the above duties, including lifting, bending, standing/sitting for extended periods of time.

Qualification: A high school diploma is required, some college education is preferred.

Salary/Benefits: This is an hourly position with no benefits.
