Librarian – Reference Services/Bernards Township Library
Bernards Township Library has an immediate opening for a motivated, creative and public-service oriented reference librarian for a part-time position, one evening and one morning per week and one or more weekend days per month.
The Library is a vibrant and active cultural center in an increasingly diverse community and is much valued by Township residents for its wide range of materials and services. The budget for materials and programs is generous and is supplemented by funds from The Friends of the Library. Bernards Township Library is a member of MAIN, Inc. a consortium of 38 libraries and branches using a shared Polaris/LEAP system.
The reference team includes the Supervising Librarian and two full-time Senior Reference Librarians as well as a Teen Services Librarian and an Emerging Technologies Librarian who spend part of their week assigned to reference.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES: Under the direction of the Supervising Librarian – Reference the successful candidate will perform professional duties such as answering reference questions, basic technology questions and concerns, providing bibliographic instruction and reader’s advisory, and submitting interlibrary loan requests.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: This position requires a Masters degree from an ALA-accredited Library and Information Studies Program and a New Jersey Professional Librarian Certificate. Some experience in Library work is preferred. Complete ease in the use of computers is essential. Experience using Polaris/LEAP is desirable. Fluency in a language/languages other than English is a plus.
