Library Assistant II
Rate: $18.16/hour
Approximately 15 hours a week: Tuesday, 9:30-2:30, Wednesdays 9:30-2:30, Thursday
9:30-2:30 and 1 Saturday or Sunday a month

The work: Library assistants are first and foremost representatives of the library. You will be
working at the library’s public service desks as a member of a team to provide excellent
customer service. You will also be required to become a passport acceptance agent (training
provided).
Your day-to-day will include:
● Bring positive energy to patrons of all ages through work at our public service desk
● Help keep collections and the building neat and easy to navigate
● Helping patrons at the circulation desk: checkouts, returns, renewals, new card
registrations
● Acting as a passport agent
● Supporting programs and events
This role includes light lifting, bending, and handling materials throughout the day.
Basic Qualifications:
● High School degree
● US Citizen
● Comfortable with computers, the internet, basic MS office, and mobile devices
● Flexibility to cover additional shifts
Recommended (but not required) qualifications:
● Experience working or volunteering in a library setting
● Experience with Koha ILS
● Foreign language proficiency
Must have qualifications:
● A love for learning, teamwork, and community
● Creativity and enthusiasm for making the library a place people want to be
